I’m Courage- vulnerability, pain, healing and self awareness.

Journey to recovery from Childhood Domestic Violence to owning my Truth

By telling my story it’s my hope to create a safe place for  empowerment of women and children. Growing up  witnessing intimate partner violence between my parents was painful and confusing. I was powerless, fearful and alone. The “Secret “maintain its power until I found the courage to dig deep. The wound was there in a space protected and well guarded. Over the years the secret would try to rise to the surface to let me know it was still  there. I never  made the connection, you see unless you learn to face your own shadows, you will continue to see them in others, because the world outside you is only a reflection of the world inside you.

When the student is ready the Universe will conspire to give you what you need. People come into your life for a reason and a season. And then it is time to move on.

The mission of  Domestic Violence and or Intimate Partner Violence is to  kill your self esteem, stop you from being the whole complete person God intended you to be. Every day I woke up challenged by fear questioning my self worth and wondering if I deserved the life I truly wanted to have. It is through adversity and the storm I found courage to slap fear in the face. Once I confronted the  demon the universe conspired with good intention.  God will deliver and take care of all your needs. People come into your life for a reason and a season. I read the book “Your True North”by Bill George. This was the turning point in my life. I realized I had a story and it mattered.

To flow and live in your true north and purpose sets you free. I Am the person I was meant to be,living the life I was meant to live. Owning my Truth. The Secret is powerless and dead. My journey now is moving forward to share my story and empower other women and children to find the courage to stand in their truth and slap fear in the face.

Full Circle

My journey has taken me full circle. After twenty years of building a life in a community I so dearly loved in South Carolina , I have returned back  home to my sweet home town of Philadelphia where I was born and raised. The secret of change is to focus  your energy  not into fighting the old but on building the new ” -Socrates

My passion for years has been working in the community in South Carolina and early years in Philadelphia as a community servant. Championing policy issues related to voting rights, female reproductive rights, climate change, domestic violence, gun reform and aviation.

Philly Girl – Philly Style

Born to two hard working middle class  Union parents who I loved and adored dearly. I learned early the need for stamina and endurance. These are some  the gifts I acquired in Childhood Domestic Violence. By owning my truth I make no excuses for who I am. Other gifts are compassion and empathy this is where my heart and soul lives……..this is where I operate from. My core the essence of who I am.
